The Ruffled Irregular Hem Mini Skirt from Chic Atelier gets all of its character from the hem. Rather than finishing on a level line, it is cut irregularly and trimmed with ruffles, so the edge rises and falls as you move and the skirt never looks static. Applique detailing adds texture at close range.
Underneath that, the shape is disciplined. A high waist sits above the natural line and the body is cut slim to the hip before the ruffles take over, which balances the movement at the hem against a clean line through the middle. The dropped waistline gives the proportion a subtly retro feel.
It is knitted from acetate with high stretch, and that stretch is essential in a slim mini: it lets the skirt follow the body, sit down and stand up without riding, and recover its shape rather than bagging out. Lengths run from sixty-four centimetres in a small to seventy-six in an extra large. Wear it with trainers and a cropped tee, or heels for an evening. Machine wash cold and lay flat to dry. Wash it inside out in a mesh bag so the ruffled edge and the applique detailing are protected through the cycle.
