The Linen Baguette Shoulder Bag from Chic Atelier is the lightest bag in the range and the most seasonal. Linen has a dry, slightly irregular weave that reads as natural rather than manufactured, and it stays cool against the arm in a way no coated synthetic manages in summer.
The shape is a baguette - long, shallow and worn tucked under the arm on a short strap. It is a silhouette that suits warm weather because it sits close and stays out of the way, rather than swinging at the hip like a long crossbody.
The interior is a single open space with no pockets, in keeping with the simplicity of the rest of it, so a small pouch is worth adding for keys and cards. Four colours are available: white, brown, pink and black, all solid, with the natural texture of the linen carrying the design rather than any print or hardware. Spot clean only - linen marks more readily than a wipeable synthetic, which is the trade you make for the texture and the weight. It comes into its own from late spring onward, and packs completely flat in a case. Worn with linen and cotton it looks entirely at home; against heavy winter fabrics it does not.
