The Slouchy Dumpling Shoulder Bag from Chic Atelier is large by any measure - forty-eight centimetres long, twenty-eight high and fifteen deep at the base - and the dumpling shape is what makes that size wearable. The curved top and soft sides let it fold against the body instead of jutting out.
It is made from microfibre synthetic leather over an acrylic lining. Microfibre is the closer imitation of the two common synthetics: it has a denser, more supple hand than standard PU and creases in a way that reads as broken-in rather than cheap. Applique detailing adds surface interest.
The interior is deliberately open - a single unpocketed cavity closed with a zip - which suits a bag used for bulk rather than organisation. A laptop, a gym kit or a day's shopping all fit comfortably. Worn over the shoulder it slouches into the hobo shape the style is named for. Available in black and pink, and in a higher-specification finish. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and avoid soaking it, as synthetic microfibre holds water in the pile. Because there are no internal dividers, a small zip pouch is worth adding if you carry loose items.
