The Pleated Splice Mini Skirt from Chic Atelier belongs to the Y2K revival, but it is a more wearable version than most. Spliced panels are joined across the body with an irregular hem, pleating runs through the skirt, and a sash ties at the waist to finish it.
An elasticated waist does the practical work. There is no zip, no button and no fixed measurement, so it sits comfortably across a wider size range and stays put through a day of moving around rather than needing constant adjustment at the waistband.
The fabric is a woven polyester with no stretch, which is exactly what an A-line pleated shape needs: without give, the pleats stand away from the body and the skirt keeps its own volume instead of collapsing against the leg. It sits somewhere between streetwear and office wear, which is unusual for a mini. Wear it with a fitted knit and loafers for work, or a cropped tee and trainers at the weekend. Machine wash cold and hang to dry, and do not tumble dry, as heat relaxes pleating permanently. Tie the sash at the front for a defined waist or at the side for a looser, more casual line. Spring is its natural season, worn bare-legged or over tights.
