The Minimalist Hasp Shoulder Tote from Chic Atelier does away with the zip. A hasp closes the top with a single movement, which is faster in practice than a zip and leaves a cleaner line across the opening - the whole design rests on that one decision.
The material is polyester rather than a coated synthetic, which makes it lighter than it looks at around seven hundred grams and gives it a matte, textile surface instead of a shine. It is water resistant, so light rain is not a problem.
The interior is completely open with no pockets at all, which is either the point or the drawback depending on how you carry. For a book, a laptop sleeve and a jacket it is ideal; for loose keys and cards, add a pouch. A shoulder-length strap keeps it high on the body rather than swinging at the hip.
