The Lace Mesh High Waist Maxi Skirt from Chic Atelier is a long skirt that stays light. A non-woven mesh ground carries the lace, so instead of a heavy panelled maxi you get a full ankle-length skirt that weighs almost nothing and moves with the air rather than against it.
The high waist is what makes the length work. Sitting at the natural waistline and flaring in a clean A-line to the ankle, it lengthens the leg and keeps the proportion elegant rather than shapeless, which is the usual failure of a loose maxi skirt.
It is a polyester mesh with no stretch, cut loose through the hip so it drapes without clinging. Lace of this kind is open by nature, so the skirt is best worn over a slip or with a lining in bright daylight. Solid colour and a Korean-influenced cut keep it versatile: sandals and a vest for daytime, a heeled sandal and a silk camisole for an evening.
