The Asymmetric Hem Y2K Mini Skirt from Chic Atelier is short at one side and considerably longer at the other, and that single decision is the whole design. The hem cuts diagonally across the leg, which draws a line the eye follows rather than sitting flat and level like every other mini.
It comes in khaki and black, both solid, both easy to place in a wardrobe. The fit is slim from a mid-rise waist through the hip, and the asymmetric shape means it can be worn as a going-out skirt or dressed down with a plain tee and trainers.
The fabric is a knitted blend of around ninety to ninety-five per cent polyester with five per cent spandex, which gives it slight stretch and lets a slim cut follow the body without pulling at the seams. Sizes run small to large, with hem lengths spanning sixty-two to ninety centimetres in a small and seventy to ninety-eight in a large, reflecting the diagonal cut. Machine wash cold and hang to dry. Turn it inside out to wash so the longer hem does not catch on anything in the drum. A knit blend like this resists creasing, which makes it a practical choice for travel and long nights out.
